In Albion, Dane Co., Wis., March 18th, 1869, of chronic disease, at the residence of her brother, Dea. S. R. Potter, Mrs. Angelina, wife of Rev. J. H. Wells, of Lind, Waupaca Co., Wis., and daughter of the late Dea. Joseph Potter, aged 52 years.

Perry Edward Wells

M, #105450, b. 18 June 1879, d. January 1977
  • Birth*: 18 June 1879; Mount Carroll, Carroll Co., Illinois, USA; Though born in Mt. Carroll, Illinois the family soon removed to Rock Island, Illinois, which was the jumping off place for Hood River, Oregon. Perry arrived as an 11 year old youth in 1891. He would remain in the valley the remainder of his life.

He attended the "board and batten" one room school house in Pine Grove. The family had taken out a homestead on the eastern rim and he with brothers and sisters walked down the mountainside and back each day to obtain their elementary education.

As a young man he worked on his father's farm and would go up into Sherman County to work in the wheat harvest. It was there in Wasco that he would meet his future wife.

However, Perry wished to obtain more education. He had no high school education but took and passed the enterance exam to the then Oregon State Agricultural College where he studied mechanical engineering for two years.

On January 1, 1906 he married Nellie Violet Clark in her parents parlor on current Fir Mountain Road. He established a very good farm over time, but was also an excellent "finish" carpenter. May old home still show his skills.
