    Tom Wells married Sarah Caroline Pearson (Carrie) on June 3, 1861 in Coosa County, Alabama. Carrie was born July 27, 1843 in Coosa County, Alabama to Joel Asa Pearson and Mariah Zimmerman. She died on July 18, 1903 and is probably buried near Tom, but the grave is either unmarked or lost to nature.

    Tom was the son and oldest child of George Washington Wells and Mary Ann Eaton Butler.

    Tom and Carrie had 7 children: Tom, Jr.; a child identified only as B. Wells on the 1870 census, who died young; Ella D. Wells Aycock; Ernest Joseph Wells; Cammie Wells Johnson; Exa Wells Hunter; and Leslie W. Wells. Their 6 grown children are buried in the Longstreet, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana cemetery.
