Mr. Fletcher, does the name Dawson mean anything to you or Lakkins? Not knowing when your James Wells father died, it is possible that the Dawsons could be the family of James Wells mother. Clay Twp of Hamilton Co. and Washington Twp. of Marion Co. adjoin one another. It is also possible that Franklin Brake Wells is a brother of James Wells and that Margaret the mother of James, m. 2nd to Greenberry Lakkins. This is all speculation, and need more records to determine facts. I have asked Pauline Clark to copy the 1840 Heads of Household for the Indiana census in the archives at Indianapolis which might give a fathers name if he died ca. 1848. You might write to the Clerk of the Circuit Court both in Hamilton County and Marion Coun7ty, Indiana and ask for the will or estate records for a Wells 1840/1850 who name James, Americas Perry, Archimedes, Emerson, etc. in the will or records.
