To all whom it may concern, know ye that ANTHONY WELLS a private soldier of Capt. Wyly Martins company Regt of U S Riflemen who was enlisted the 20th Sept., 1814 to serve 5 years. Said ANTHONY WELLS was born in the State of Virginia was when enlisted 35 years of age, 5'9" high, fair complexion, grey eyes, sandy hair and by occupation a labourer. 1850 Lincoln Co., Tenn. Census #1124 Anthony Wells 70 Va. Clarissa 61.

State of Ohio, Lake County, 19 June 1855, RHODA WELLS WARNER, aged 71 years a resident of Painsville declares that APPLETON WELLS her first husband resided in Watertown in Jefferson County, N. Y. during the War of 1812 and was a pvt in company commanded by Capt. Stephens Gifford and Lt Joseph Mayo in the 76th Regt. N.Y. Militia commanded by Col. Gershom Tuttle & Amariah Tucker. She was married to APPLETON WELLS in Pompey in Onondago County, N. Y., 8 August 1805 by Rev. Roswell Beckwith a Baptist Clergyman and her name before marriage was Rhoda Baldwin and APPLETON WELLS died at Watertown in Jefferson County the 29th January 1814.

State of Mississippi, County of Newton, 14 October 1852: appeared Andrew McAlpin, a resident of Newton County guardian of BENJAMIN WELLS whose age was twenty three years the 18th day of April 1853 and CHARLES WELLS whose age was twenty one years the llth July 1853 and who were minor children of ARCHELOUS WELLS who died on or about the 11 December 1847 leaving no widow now surviving him and who was a Captain in the Reg'.. of Alabama Vols. commanded by Col. Joseph Carson in the War of 1812 and he believes the sd. ARCHELOUS WELLS volunteered at Fort Strawther State of Alabama on or about the lst April 1813.
