State of Tennessee, County of Hardeman: 24 February 1853 appeared Rhoda Wells aged 48 years a resident of Hardeman County widow of ALLEN WELLS deceased, who was a pvt. in company of Capt. R. P. Neely in Battn. of Tenn. Vols. commanded by Major Julien in the War with or Removal of the Cherokee Indians from the states of Georgia and Tennessee in the year 1838. That her said husband volunteered at Bolivar, Tenn on or about the 10th day of May 1838 for 3 months. She was married to ALLEN WELLS in Dickson County, Tenn. on the lst of Feb. 1826 by William Hogan, J.P. and that her name before marriage was Rhoda Gallion that her said husband died near Bolivar, Tenn the 12th December 1846
Charlotte Tenn. Nov. 18, 1852-PIrs. Rhoda Wells - I have searched the records of my office for the marriage license and bond of yourself with ALLEN WELLS and can find nothing of either of them. In the year 1830 there was a storm here which blowed away everything in the courthouse. I recon they were blowed away. Thomas McNeilly, clerk

Butts in the 35th Regt of U.S. Inf. commanded by Col. Joseph Goodwyn in the War with Great Britain 1812. She was married to ALLEN WELLS in Dinwiddie county the 20th December 1817 by Charles Roper a deacon of the Methodist Epis. church and her name before marriage was Sally Gent and that her husband died at his residence in Dinwiddie March 1843

Her husband volunteered at Burlington, Vt. 1 Sept. 1814 for 3 mos. She was married to AMBROSE WELLS in Henrietta, county of Monroe, N. Y the 13th Sept.1820 by Rev. Joseph _______ and her name before marriage was Esther Roberts and her husband died at Lewiston, county of Niagara, N.Y. the 24th May 1852
