31 Oct. 1799- Deposition of Samuel Wells - came in 1776 with Nathaniel
Triplett, William Triplett, and his father Samuel Wells and others, and made
improvements for William Triplett on the South side of N. fork of Licking

Hayden Wells, age 56 or thereabouts, deposed he came in 1775 with Rust, etc. --
Samuel Wells - to Mill Creek on N fork of Licking, near mouth of Licking, now called Wells
Creek and meandered up the N fork to a large bend in the Creek where Nicholas Mills now
stands. Samuel Wells was taken sidk.

Hayden's brother Samuel Wells, came in 1775. Hayden Wells stated he had never entered
land in Va., and in 1779 was in service with the U. S. in the Ill. Regiment.
Left in Sept. or Oct. of that same year, but could not get to Ky. on account of the ice. Hayden
Wells, been in Ill. and Cumberland since the year 1778. (Deposition made June 6, 1801

Cert. of preemption of 1000 A. granted to Samuel Wells, as heir at law of Samuel Wells,
decd. by Bourbon Co., Court, Sept. 1786 Land on East fork of Licking- Suit remanded to Mason County.

Military Certificates (v.22, page 20, Ky. Hist. Reg.) Capt. Samuel Wells, wife a Haden, first came to Ky.
with Haden and Samuel. The older children reared in Va.
A surveyor in 1775. His known children are Carty, Haden, Samuel, Yelverton Peyton, Elizabeth and William.
Capt. in Va. Cont. Line in Re. (Old War Invalid File No. 14441 in case of Joseph Shaw- swore in Clark Co. court, Ill.
Aug. 31, 18380 served with Capt. Samuel Wells in Reg. of Col. Wm. Oldham.) Came to Ky. 1779, his son Carty Wells, with his wife
and his young family and his younger brother and sister Elizabeth came to Ky. and built
and founded Capt. Samuel Wells Station.
