  Walter Y. Wells, 92, formerly of Lubbock, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at his home in Bastrop. He had resided in Lubbock for 61 years prior to moving to Bastrop last year. He was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Young County, and grew up on a farm and ranch there.
  
  He lived there until 1939, when he became the county office manager for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Guthrie and continued with the Department of Agriculture for 46 years. He held the job in Guthrie for six months before being transferred to Throckmorton, where he held the same position for 19 months.
  
  At that time, he was transferred to Lubbock where he served as county office manager until 1979, with a five-year absence from the position to serve as an assistant cashier and loan officer at American State Bank in Lubbock.
  
  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock for 62 years, serving for 57 years as a deacon. In addition, he served as a Sunday School director and teacher, church treasurer, a member of the visitation committee, and on selection committees for ministers.
  
  He also served on the Panhandle South Plains Fair committee for over 30 years, on the Lubbock County Junior Livestock Committee for 30 years, on the Lubbock Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Lubbock Agriculture Club, and as a founding member and president of the Texas Association of County ASC office employees.
  
  His survivors include his daughter Waldine Walker and her husband Jim of Alto, Texas; his son Donald Wells and his wife Barbara of Littleton, Colo.; his daughter Dorothy and her husband Gary of Bastrop; three brothers, George, Robert and Coleman; one sister, Mabel; nine grandchildren and their spouses; and 18 great-grandchildren.
  
  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Velda Mae Bullock Wells; his father and mother, Hawes and Mabel Wells; three brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter.

• (Deceased) Death*: 11 May 2010; Denton, Denton Co., Texas, USA; Willie Faye Wells Wiley, 97, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, TX. Willie Faye was born on September 30, 1912, in Proffitt, Young County, Texas, daughter of Richard (Dick) and Louduskye Harmonson Wells, prominent "pioneers" of Young County. Her ancestors included her maternal great-great grandfather, Peter Harmonson, who settled in Peter's Colony in 1845 and helped form Denton County where he served as the 1st Sheriff. In 1854 he was 1 of 5 people who helped organize Young County where he moved his family, established the Harmonson Rancho, and served as the First Chief Justice.
  
  Willie Faye graduated Valedictorian from Newcastle High School & graduated from North Texas Teachers' College, now the University of North Texas. She married Donald Wiley in 1940 in Graham, TX, where she taught school for the majority of her 43 teaching years. A well-known ranching family, Willie Faye and Donald established the OK Ranch, now known as the W & W Ranch located near the Bunger Community on the Brazos River.
  
  Willie Faye is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald Wiley; her parents; her sisters, Alma Wells Starbuck, Mozelle Wells Smith, Cornelia Wells Wilkinson; her brother, Richard Franklin (Pete) Wells, as well as her beloved Aunt Dora Harmonson Dent and Uncle Will Dent, and nephews Kenneth Smith and Richard Starbuck.
  
  Willie Faye is survived by her only child, Virginia Ann Wiley Williams, and son-in-law, W. E. "Ed" Williams, Jr.; her grandchildren, Ginger Fayerene Williams and W. E. "Eddie" Williams, III, as well as her granddaughter-in-law, Amy Williams; and her two great grandchildren, W. E. "Cort" Williams, IV, and Knox Douglas Williams of Denton. She is also survived by her cherished nieces, nephews, & cousins, as well as her retired teacher friends and co-workers in the Graham Independent School District; members of the Delta Kappa Gamma Retired Teachers Association; her First Baptist Sunday School Class; the Young County Historical Society; and her many devoted classroom students and friends.
  
  Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Vintage Health Care Center and Texas Presbyterian Hospital.
  
  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
  
  The Funeral Services will be Monday, May 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Segars, First Baptist Church Minister of Education and Administration, officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
  
  In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to make memorials to the Young County Historical Society or the Library of Graham.
