NOTE: There are incorrect connections here (proven by later research) and this family is NOT connected to the Aaron Wells family. It is not clear why this letter was included in the Aaron Wells papers. Richard Wells was NOT the father of Aaron OR Zachariah Wells who were not likely even brothers. Further, there is NO evidence to link Richard Wells' second wife to the Stevenson family and this letter may have been the source of that speculation.
Dear Flo,
Well, the holiday season is about over and today I seem to have a sort of free moment. Of course there is a dinner parto to night- we go out- tomorrow I have our doctor and a few others. Yesterday, I assisted in giving a tea for forty- for a spinster friend who just married- she 60- he 65 though both are the young in heart. Loui Jr. has been home so there is much coming and going.
And then there is that moment when the tree must come down and the decorations to put away but I won't think of that.
My husband has not been too well all winter. Appears to have a spastic colon - went into hospital and nothing organic wrong but he still feels uncertain so we will probably go to a clinic either Cleveland or Pittsburgh some of these days when he makes up his mind. I think he worries about it and as he has never been ill - he is 73- takes illness as a personal affront. I have had so many itmes removed in the past that I rather take what comes. he is sixteen years older than myself and one of the reasons I took up genealogy- or does it creep on one- is that I felt I would need a stay - at - home type of hobby some day. Louis is so dear and kind but he has always been active and hates growing old.
Your last letter had so many interesting things in it. I checked again that MLK notes on Richard's children and he said he was 77 and the grandson of Richard Jr. So I believe he did know of richard's family. Except Zachariah - who bothers me as being one of the children. he gave the same record of Zach. as you do which looks like he was from Virginia. (not Ohio County).
I wonder if Richard's second wife could have been one of those Stevensons who settled in Washington County with the Vance's and which sound suspiciously "Wellish". We could then get a Moses with no trouble but the name Zachariah throws me. Like you if I were truely interesed, I would dig a little farther but think I will leave it lie.
