    Services for Robert Keith Wells, 41, of 1315 W. 4th St., who died Thursday at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Church. The Very Rev. John P. Bartholomew will officiate.

    Mr. Wells was born in Marysville, Kan., and had been a resident of Hastings since 1961. He was an Insurance Agent for American National Insurance Co. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Church, Hastings Lodge No. 50 AF&AM and the Scottish Rite. He served in the U.S. Navy 1954-58.

    Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, Gregory of Hastings; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Denise) Hauff of Glenvil and Mrs. Bruce (Leslie) Norton of Lincoln; one sister, Mrs. Malcolm MacLeod of Marysville, Kan., and one granddaughter.

    Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery with Masonic rites provided by Lodge No. 50 AF&AM.

    Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Church or Mary Lanning Cancer Fund.

    Shirley A. MacLeod, age 85, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away at Brookdale Senior Living in Salina, Kansas, on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

    Shirley was born October 17, 1931, in Haddam, Kansas, to Walter and Grace (Parnell) Wells. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1949. She married Malcolm MacLeod on November 8, 1953 at Blue Rapids, Kansas. He passed away in 2004.

    She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville. She had worked at various businesses in Marysville throughout her lifetime, including MacLeod Cleaners where she worked along with her husband Malcolm.

    Survivors include her three daughters: Mary Farmer and husband Mike of Salina, Laura MacLeod of Ogden, Utah, and Peggy Holle and husband Allen of Pawaukee, Wisconsin, three granddaughters: Amanda Hamilton and husband Nick of Salina, Liza Pinkner and husband Cory of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and Dana Holle of Pewaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by a brother Charles Wells of Marysville.

    Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Malcolm, a brother Robert “Bob” Wells and sister Edith Scheibe.

    Cremation is planned with a private inurnment service at Marysville City Cemetery.

    Edith M. Scheibe, 74, Beattie, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Via Christi in Manhattan, KS.

    Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18 from noon until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

    The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 19, at the United Methodist Church in Beattie.

    Burial will be in Beattie Union Cemetery.

    Edith was born at Marysville to Walter and Margaret (Scott) Wells on May 27, 1942.

    Edith married Donald Lee Scheibe on October 4, 1959 at the Methodist Church, the current Lee Dam Art Center in Marysville. They were blessed with three children, Claude, Kenneth and Kimberly.

    When Edith was in high school she worked as a waitress at the Skyline Café, Marysville. Don and Edith’s courtship started at the Skyline Café. After their marriage, Edith was very fortunate to spend 16 years following Don around the United States while he was in the Army. They lived in Okinawa for 4 years. After her and Don made their permanent residence in Summerfield, she managed the Irish Inn.

    While Claude was in school in Summerfield, Edith was known to sneak food into the school for Claude and some of his friends, if they didn’t like the lunch that day. Edith was also a cook at the Classic Café in Summerfield and Wild Bills Saloon in Baileyville. Edith was known for her fried chicken and mashed potatoes; people would come for lunch just to enjoy her homemade food. Anyone who knew Edith knew her 2nd love was for Elvis Presley. She was thrilled to visit Graceland twice in her lifetime and talked about her trips many times.

    Edith’s hobbies included plastic canvas, watching soap operas and game shows. She loved spending time with her family and watching hummingbirds outside the living room window. She loved collecting Elvis memorabilia and “hunting” fiberglass cows and teddy bears in Kansas City. Before getting sick she loved to follow her kids and grandkids sporting activities.

    Edith was past President of the Summerfield Centennial. Member of the Summerfield American Legion Auxiliary and later transferred to the Beattie American Legion Auxiliary where she was currently Treasurer and membership Chairwoman

    Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, Robert Wells.

    Survivors include her husband, Don; sons, Claude (Lori) Scheibe, Summerfield, Kenneth (Michelle) Scheibe, Beattie; daughter, Kimberly (Bryce) Goings, Beattie; brother, Charles (Carol) Wells, Marysville; sister, Shirley McLeod, Salina; and grandchildren, Andrea (Keith) Heideman, Jared (Renee) Scheibe, Gavin Scheibe, Khristian Scheibe, Zachary Scheibe, Noah Scheibe; and great grandchildren, Jayden, Kodi Ann and Ephrum Heideman and Kathryne Scheibe.

    Charles Lee Wells, 73, Marysville, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at Community Memorial Healthcare.

    A graveside funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 2 at Marysville City Cemetery.

    Charles was born on January 16, 1945 in Marysville to Walt and Margaret (Scott) Wells. He worked for Landoll Corporation for 25 years, as a fork lift operator.

    Charles married Carol Maguire and to this union were born three children, Shelly, Charles “Chuck” and Kelly. Charles greatly enjoyed his family and spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, working on old cars and watching John Wayne movies.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; half-brother, Bob Wells; half-sister, Shirley MacLeod; sister, Edith Scheibe; father-in-law, Paul Maguire; sister-in-law, Barbara Maguire; and grandson, Anthony Wells.

    Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Shelly (Ronnie) Rainey, Blue Springs, Neb, Charles P. (Rakella) Wells, Beattie and Kelly (Michael) Miller, Marysville; mother-in-law, Betty Maguire; brother-in-law, Don Scheibe; and five grandchildren, Kelsey (Josh) Kenworthy, Emily Bussmann, Alex (Lacey Stock) Wells, Johnathan (Amelia) Klein and Steven (Maria) Klein; and five great grandchildren, Brayden Wells, Brylee and Joslynn Kenworthy, Joseph Klein and Kevin Klein.
