b 1742; m. Margaret Dobson (b 1747) in Yorkshire, Eng. abt 1762-1767. Margaret's father was George Dobson, uncle was Richard. Arrived in Boston from Thirsk, Yorkshire in 1772 and arrived Pointe de Bute, New Brunswick in 1773. He died in New Brunswick in 1819 and she in 1832.

I'm looking for the ancestors of William Wells b. 11 Aug 1797 PA d. 7 Feb 1877 OH (Seneca twp, Monroe Co.). He was married to Nancy Stephens 1799 or 1803 PA d. 12 Oct 1881 OH. She was dau. of Appollo Stephens and Nancy Taylor and Appollo Stephens was son of Stacey Stephens and Elizabeth Hatfield.

b 1810-1825 Death certificate (DC) of Ethel Mae Lingle Vincent (paternal grandmother) states she was born in MI Jan 19, 1882 to Paul Lingle and Mary Elizabeth Wells. Mary's DC states only that she was b OH as was her father, William Wells. Mary was 73 y/o when she d March 9, 1920, so probably b 1847. William was thus probably b between 1810 and 1825. DC does not give William's wife's name. Mary Elizabeth Wells m. Paul Lingle abt 1870 (Ethel had an older sister, Dora, b 1872). Paul also b OH Aug 9, 1841. Family moved to Denver, CO abt 1897 where they remained.

William Wells My maiden name was Pamela Wells. I am looking for information about the Wells family in Huntington WV. I know we are of Dutch-Indian (and I might guess English descent). My family does not know any history furtherback than my great-grand father. His name was William Wells, born in 1854, died 1911. Not sure where he was born. He married an Ellen Bates Cook in New York and moved back to Cabell Co. WV. Have not been able to find information. I live out west, and free info is hard to come by. Always nice to hear from another Wells. Never know who you're related to. --

William Wells
probably born between Cir 1885 - 1889 in Pennsylvania. He married Georgianna Waid b. 24 May 1894 in PA, almost certainly in Tidioute in Warren Co., and d. November 1962.
Georgianna was dau of William Waid 1865-1928 and Mary Dow d: 1863/5-1952 and had siblings: Georgianna's parents moved from Tidioute, Warren Co., PA to Oil City, Venango Co., PA about 1909. Other than Ralph's issue -- my line -- other living descendants of William/Mary would have to be (1) Georgianna's descendants, if any; (2) Douglas's descendants, if any; and/or (3) descendants of Kenneth Waid's infant son, also named Kenneth Waid, probable dates 1913-1974 (Kenneth Sr. died in oilfield accident in 1914 at age 22).
The last to die of Georgianna Waid Wells' siblings was Harriett, in/near Akron OH in 1980. Her obit in Oil City paper refers to nieces and nephews then living; they were prob. in Akron area as of 1980 as that would explain move by Harriett, a spinster, from Oil City to Akron following death of Hazel Waid, her sister with whom she resided, in 1976.
Of more than 1000 "William Wells" listings on SSDI, likeliest candidates -- cards issued in Penna., not too remote in age from wife Georgianna -- are these:

    b abt 1824, probably Danbury, Fairfield Co., CT married Laura Wadsworth abt 1860 in Adrian, Lenawee Co., MI. He d. 1888 at Adrian, MI. Children: Maude L. Wells (b abt 1871 Adrian, MI; m. Eber L. Farrar 5/21/1895 Detroit, Wayne Co., MI) and Myra E. Wells (b. 5/8/1866 and m. Edward W. Reynolds). Need parents, siblings, and birth info on William A. plus any info on previous marriages. I think there was at least one with possible son named Paul Wells.

    son of unknown parents was born Abt. 1873 in New York. William was 47 in 1920 New York Brooklyn Census, and died in New York around the mid-1940=92s. He was born in New York but I am not certain if it was NY City. His job was Estimator at Dept. Store in NYC. Both of his parents lived in New York
    He married Margaret Anne Dwyre January 12, 1895, daughter of UNKNOWN. She was born June 29, 1874. Margaret was 46 at 1920 Census, she states she was born in Washington, DC. Her father was born in New York, her Mother in Ireland.
    January 12, 1895 is the Marriage Date for William and Margaret Wells taken from a card my Aunt made when she visited Margaret in mid 1940's after William's death.
    William Arthur and Margaret Anne Wells resided 941 Park Place, Brooklyn, NY. at the time William died. William had already passed away when Aunt Frances Ciruti visited in mid-1940.
    At time of 1920 New York Census the family lived at 998 Putnam Ave. Brooklyn, NY

    Children of William Arthur Wells and Margaret Dwyre are:

    1. William Joshua Wellls b. November 13, 1897, Brooklyn, New York; d. February 22, 1964, Baytown, TX. Pop Wells had already gone to Texas and married Grandmother when the 1920 Census was taken.
    2. Helen Wells, b. Abt. 1896, Helen was born in Washington, DC. She was 24 and a grammar school teacher in 1920 Census.
    3. Nancy Wells, b. Was already married at 1920 Census; m. Cranc. Who may have been an officer in the Army and taught at West Point. Later she moved to Sacramento, Ca. She was not shown in the 1920 Census, though she maybe Helen.
    4. Phillip Wells, b. Abt. 1900 he was 20 in Census. He was listed as being an Insurance Clerk at Census.
    5. Harold Wells, b. Abt. 1903 he was 17 in Census. He was a police officer in the 1940's when A. Frances Ciruti visited. He was also listed as Insurance Clerk.
      Child of Harold Wells is:

      Harold Joseph Robert Wells, b. September 18, 1929.

    6. Ruth Wells, b. Abt. 1911 she was 9 during Census.
    Does anyone know any of the children? Are you my cousins in NY state? Does anyone recognize William Arthur Wells as a missing uncle, son or brother to one of their ancestors? Would appreciate any and all suppositions.

    My Father was Ralph Evan Wells d 1965, in LaGrange GA, His father was William Columbus Wells b Dec 31, 1860 d Dec 31 1939. married Ella O. Green b: Oct 31 1861 d Jan 31 1941. Both are buried in Watolla Church in Lee County Alabama. This is as far back as I can trace any of my Wells family.

    I am tracing my great great grandfather William Henry (Harrison?)Wells Apparently William was born in Ohio in 1830....at some point in his life(unsure when) he arrived in Australia where he married Mary Elizabeth Werrey in Victoria in 1868 and had ,among other female children, his only son,my great grandfather William Henry Harrison Wells Junior in 1869...All I know of him is that on his death certificate (1902 in South Melbourne) it states that he was born in Ohio in 1830 .
    It is possible(according to family "legend".)that William may have had African/American heritage.

William and Sarah Gary Rogers had William died from Measles May 1880 in Panola Co., TX. Would appreciate any info on William, his parents and his children.
