Samuel Wells
Born 1788 IOW England convicted of horse stealing -
sentenced 14 years - sent to Sydney , Australia. arrived aboard HMS Surry 1 on 4th
March 1823. Married Catherine Geraty 1832 - Children Sam Wells, Ellen Wells, Martha Wells, Mark Wells,
Samuel Wells, James Wells, Catherine Wells. His family may have been in Hampshire or Wiltshire. So
far unable to find a trace of him in England.

b 5/10/1791 Allegheny Co., MD; emigrated to OH before 1812;
m. Susannah Dowell in 1812 in Muskigum Co., OH. Later mvd to Carroll Co., IN;
McLean Co., IL; Henry Co., IA; Gentry Co., MO; and Taylor Co., IA. Need info on
parents and siblings.
Samuel Wells
Arrived in Bradford Co PA abt 1800 from RI. He married Sarah May (last name unknown) and had nine
children of whom three are known Daniel Wells, Joshua Wells, and John Wells. Daniel and Joshua
lived in the same area but it is belived John moved to KY.
Samuel J. Wells
born 1801 in MD married Elizabeth Matheny 4 Feb. 1821 in
Jefferson, West Virginia. They moved to Ohio, where most of their
children were born. Who were his parents?
Samuel W. Wells
born Cir 1800 Goergia. He married Kesiah Belcher on November 27, 1822 in Amite County Mississippi.
I know he lived in Marshall and Lafayette County Mississippi. My 2nd
great-grandmother was his daughter. Her name was Virginia Wells. I would
very much like to find out what county in Georgia he might be from.
Samuel Wells
In the probate packages of "my" Colonel Samuel Wells, who
died in 1830, there is a paper dated 20 Feb 1830 referring to Samuel Wells,
Senior, as "executor of the late will and testament of William S. Wells, dec'd."
In question is a note given by William S. Wells to James Silvey, bearing date 22 Nov 1826.
Question: who WAS this William S. Wells?--obviously some connection with Col. Samuel Wells, and we know he left a will and died between Nov 22 1826 - 24 Feb 1830. There may be some descendants out there looking for the
information(?) -- the will is NOT in St. Charles County, Missouri.
Best guess is that he was a cousin or nephew of Samuel's, possibly of Carty Wells's branch.
Would be glad to hear from anyone about this!

Born in OH, WV, or western PA, son of Samuel Pritchard Wells.
Four children: Dwight Wells, Glenn Fletcher Wells, Helen Wells, and ?.
Glenn Wells (1/11/1907-3/1/1971) is my grandfather. He married Beulah Elizabeth Birney.
They may have been married in Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Beulah is from Cadiz. They had
seven children: Maxine Wells, Irma Wells, Ross Carel Wells ("Sonny"?), Ross Wells, Charles Wells, Joann Wells, & Rebecca Wells. Raised in

Samuel A. Wells
1860 & 1870 censuses say b. NY and "Atlantics" (?).
Came to Memphis, TN bef 1860 census. Married Mary L. Thorp 9/20/1857. Family moved
to Batesville, MS to relatives of in-laws. He d. ca 1903; bur Memphis.
Mother-in-law, Susan Thorp's funeral held at 'Wells Station' in Memphis, Shelby
Co., TN.
Sarah Wells
Born Feb. 20, 1788 (?) possibly in VA. Looking for her parents
and spouse. Three known children: Madema (b. Feb 8, 1808 in VA; m. Abijah DeBord
Nov 27, 1823 in Wythe Co., VA), Fleming (b. Aug 9, 1819), and Amanda (b. Dec 12,
1821). Fleming and Amanda might be from a second marriage. Evidence of
mother-daughter relationship for Sarah and Madema established with a DeBord
Family Bible. Sarah is listed as a Wells (unknown whether it is her married or
maiden name).

m. John Forman. Son, William A. Forman, born 1/12/1867 Cohoes,
NY m. Lucia Lucinda Ross, b. 11/7/1869 Montague, MA. Lucia reported to be the
dau. of Henry W. Ross b. MA and Jane Bates b. Shaftsbury, VT.
Sarah Jane Wells
b abt 1843 NY to English parents. She m. John Foreman in
Cohoes, NY abt 1864. Sons William Arthur Foreman, Edwin P. Foreman, George Wells Foreman. Edwin, Arthur,
and middle initial P. don't appear to be Foreman-related so might be a clue to
her ancestry. Edwin P. Foremamn not in 1870 census and may have been born after John's
death 1/20/1871. She is in Troy, NYC as a widow in 1873-1875.
Shellie Wells
Married Virginia (Virgie) Wyatt in Dec 1911. Obtained
license from Wright Co., MO but m. in Webster Co. where Virgie was from. Also
looking for Shellie's younger brother, Lyle Wells who is in the Wright Co. 1920
census. Parents: Peter James Wells & Laura E. McCormick. Migrated to MO in
1889/1890 from Coles/Douglas Co., IL. Shellie & Lyle are youngest children.
Sophia Wells
Came from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with
children, Florence Madelena Wells and Herbert Edwin Wells to Pontiac, IL in 1830. Possible
that two unknown brothers came as well. Florence married John Anderson Harper
2/2/1871 in Pontiac and Herbert Edwin Wells married Ida D. Allen 12/25/1880 in
Juanita, NE.
Snoden Wells
b: 1854. I am looking for information about my Great Grandfather, Snoden Wells.
I am told that he was from south central Illinois ( Wayne )county. He fathered
twenty four children by three different wives. One
of these children from the "second family", Nancy Dallas was my grandfather Jesse Marcus Wells.
Stephen Wells
m. Margaret ? abt 1825. They had dau, Angelina Warner Flint,
born in Essex Co., OH. Shortly after she was born they moved to Madison Co., OH w/
Dominy and Flint families of Clinton Co., OH.
Susan Ann Wells
b Brooklyn, NY 1812, m. Joseph Daniel of New Orleans, LA
in 1830 and removed to New Orleans where they had several children. She d. New
Orleans 1848.
Susan Wells b: Cir. 1830-40 in Ill.or Ky. Married Thomas J.Abbott - date & place ?
Had at least 2 sons - James Warren Abbott b.1858 in Ill.and Frank Abbott date & place ?
Believed to have lived in Nebraska at some point. Any information would be most welcome as this is the little
bit of data that I have. Would be thrilled to connect Susan with the correct Wells family.
Susan Thompson Wells
born 5/20/1814 in Indiana and died 6/30/1879?
She is buried in Dickens Cemetery, Hedrick, Keokuk County, Iowa.
Does anyone have information on this cemetery?
I'm trying to make a connection with Susan and my gggrandfather,
William T. Wells. His sons were Frank Wells (who lived in Kahoka, Missouri)
and William S. Wells. William S. was born 3/9/1867 in Keokuk County, Iowa.
He lived most of his life and died in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1959.
Sybil Wells
m. Christian Price probably early 1800's. George Lefevre Price
in paternal g-grandfather. Price family lived in and around Ontario Co., NY. Any
information appreciated.
