George Wells
1765-1859 Queen Anne Co., Maryland
It has been said George was born in Annapolis Maryland. He must have married
in Rockingham County, Virginia to Jane Reagan who evidently died soon after
their son, Joshua born on 1796 in Virginia. Perhaps named after his brother
Joshua Wells, who was for a long time connected with the Baltimore Conference
of the Methodist Church. After his wife died he moved to Greene Co.
Tennessee. There he married Mary Earnest, daughter of Henry & Mary
(Stephens) Earnest on 03 Aug 1799. They had 9 more children:

- Humphreys Wells married Mariah Earnest
- Felix Wells married Ann Baron
- Lawrence Wells married Jane Wheelock
- Elizabeth Wells married John Gourley
- Rebecca Wells married William Lotspeich
- Sarah Wells married Cynthia Harrison
George was a Methodist Minster, who traveled extensively with Bishop Asbury
and was a "faithful companion in labor." His grave is one of the oldest
marked graves in Harrison's Cemetery.

14 years in NSW, Aus. Married Harriet Vidler 9/23/1839 at Wolfongong, NSW, Aus.
and d. 8/27/1849 at the Sydney Benevolent Asylum, NSW, Aus.

b. late 1700's in VA (?) m. Elizabeth Moses. Settled Montgomery Co., VA
in early 1800's. Children: William, Charles Wells, Julia Ann Wells, Frances Wells, Minerva Wells,
Elizabeth Wells, Liza Wells, Ellen Wells, Jeremiah Wells, Martha Wells, Sarah Wells, and Thomas Wells.
George Washington Wells
Son
of John and Mary Wells. Born 4/1849, d 7/1943 in Reading, Berks Co., PA. Married
Hannah Veronica Tobias and had sons Robert Wells, Edward Wells, Clinton Wells and daughters
Daisy Wells, Heleria Wells, and Anna Lucinda Wells. All lived in Reading, Berks Co., PA.
George William Wells. He went by William or Bill.
So far, the information we have is sketchy. From the funeral record, he was b. 22 Jun 1853 in Illinois.
He d. 22 Dec 1932 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. According to his death certificate,
information provided by his daughter, his parents were George Wells and Hannah Green,
birth info unknown on either.
William's wife was Elissa (Alessa?) Rozeen Day.
The known children of William were:
- Joseph Franklin Wells, b. 30 Jul 1892 in Kelly, Colorado, d. 6 Oct 1956 in
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He m. Chlora May Barcklay on 06 May 1919.
- A.E. (Arthur) Wells who resided in Redmond, Oregon.
- Amy Wells who resided in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. (It was at her home that William died while visiting.)
Joseph Franklin and Chlora May had 7 children, two of whom died in infancy. Among the other children was my wife's mother, Betty May Wells who was b. 30 Oct 1926 in Everett, Snohomish, Washington. She m. Samuel David Sawley on
22 May 1924.
