Editor's note: The following marriages are recorded in Montgomery County, Kentucky during this period. Could one or more of them be connected?

- Cassandra Wells & Thomas Jefferson Ellis 28 Mar 1827
- Absolem S. Wells & Polly Kemper 14 Aug 1828
- Elizabeth Wells & John Coons 19 Aug 1830
According to one researcher Cassandra's sister Cynthia Wells married Walter Ellis a few years earlier. Walter was an uncle of Thomas Jefferson Ellis.
It appears that Absolem Wells may have married a second time to an Elizabeth Starr (if the same as above) and it may be they who were living in Edgar, Illinois in 1850 (a place to look for clues?)
1850 Census for District 19, Edgar County, Illinois - page 211, dwelling 1286:
- Absolem Wells 48 b: KY farmer

- Elizabeth Wells 11 b: IL

- Clarissa Wells 14 b: IL
- John J. Wells 12 b: IL
- Elisha Wells 10 b: IL

It may be that there is no connection between these two or between them and Elizabeth (Wells) Coons.

Elizabeth Wells
b 5/11/1824 Chazy, Clinton Co., NY. Unsure of definite
birthplace, but know she resided in Chazy as indicated by daughter's obit
(Margaret Lafayette b. abt 1845). She had two other children: Henry Lafayette b.
1849 and Charles George Lafayette b. 1847. Obit says she left NY for MI with
family. No evidence of removal to MI (not present in 1850 census in NY or MI).
She probably came to MI w/o husband as she m. my g-grandfather, Thomas Weston,
in 1856. It is possible she is the daughter of Aurilla Wells b. 1803.
Elizabeth Howard Wells
was born 28 July 1814 in Washington Co., PA. She married Thomas Patterson in
1831, in PA, and they moved west, first to Putnam Co., IL in 1836, by 1850 Census in Marshall Co.,IL,
and 1860 Census to Rock Bluffs, Cass Co., Nebraska. He died in March 1869, she was still on
the census of Cass Co., NE in 1870. I have a picture of her taken 28 July
1904, celebrating her 90th birthday in "Nebraska." Does anyone know who her
parents were? Or when and where she died? According to one Patterson
researcher, she bore 18 children, many of whom died in childhood/infancy.
Any and all help will be most appreciated!
