Abraham Wells b: 08 Jan 1766 and Nancy Wisby of Monongalia County, Virginia and Marion County, Indiana

The Mystery of the Month is:

Who were the parents of Abraham Wells b: 08 Jan 1766 probably in Pennsylvania - possibly in Lancaster County.

He married Cir 1792/3 possibly near Clarksburg, Virginia Nancy Wisby b: 11 Oct 1775 also Pennsylvania, daughter of Joseph Wisby and Sarah Dixon then living in Monogalia County, Virgina.

It does not appear that Abraham was himself living in Monogalia as according to their son the pair removed to Pennyslvania after marrying and lived there for 3 years following which they lived in Virginia for 11 years, 24 years in Highland County, Ohio and finally 13 years in Marion County, Indiana. Abraham died 13 Jul 1843 in Marion County and is buried in Bethel Cemetery in Indianapolis. Nancy died in Pike Township, Marion County 04 Nov 1865 and was also buried in Bethel Cemetery. Abraham was a hatter by trade.

  6. Annie Wells b: 24 Feb 1803 probably died young.
  7. Sarah Wells b: 04 Jan 1805 Virginia or Ohio; m: 16 May 1822 Highland Co., Ohio Samuel Ewing
  8. Nancy Wells b: 31 Jul 1807 Highland Co, Ohio; m: 26 May 1825 Highland Co. Thomas Blair; d: 04 May 1891 Pike Township, Marion Co., Indiana
  9. Abraham Dixon Wells b: 13 Aug 1810 Whiteoak Township, Highland Co., Ohio; m: 24 Apr 1834 Janetta Bain
