Mystery of the Month - January 1998

Who were the seven Wells sisters(?)
who were married to the seven Hutcheson brothers(?)
on Christmas Eve 1831 in Saco, Maine?

"On Christmas Eve (i.e. 24 Dec 1831) by the Rev. William Jenkins at Saco, Maine:

Theophlias Hutcheson to Martha Wells

Richard Hutcheson to Eliza Wells

Thomas Hutcheson to Sarah Ann Wells

Titus Hutcheson to Mary Wells

Jonathan Hutcheson to Judith Wells

Ebinezer Hutcheson to Verginia Wells (Virginia?)

John Hutcheson to Peggy Wells"

[The Cobourg (Ontario) Star 14 Mar 1832 ]

Can anyone identify these folks? This sounds like the "plot" for "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".

Saco is located about midway between Portland and Wells, Maine. This opens all sorts of possiblities as there were several Wells families in the Wells area.

Why was this event picked up in the Cobourg, Ontario newspaper? Cobourg is located on Lake Ontario about 90 miles from Toronto and not anywhere near Saco, Maine.
