  John Wells, a well known colored barber of this city, died very suddenly on his home on South street on Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. When he arrived at home last night he was in fair health, but complained that he ached all over. He started to walk across the kitchen floor this morning, but fell. He was carried upstairs and he said, "Oh my heart hurts me so," and expired. He was born on the West Virginia side of the river, about 52 years ago. He was married to Susan Snowden twenty four years ago. She survives, with three children: Mrs. Daisy Christian; Mrs. Jennie Starks and Mrs. Inez Bowman; also a brother, Daniel Wells, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Lyons, of Wellsville.
  
  Mr. Wells was one of the pioneer barbers of Steubenville and for years worked at Guyder's and other establishments. He was of genial disposition and had many friends.
