  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday August 18, 2011 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Metropolis. Rev. Glenn Coram and Chaplain Frank Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis.
  
  Lawanda was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Metropolis and had retired as a LPN.

  Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening August 17, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis and on Thursday from 9 am until the funeral hour at the church.

  Mrs. Harriett Wells, widow of the late Judge Samuel Wells, died Tuesday at her home on West Ninth Street, aged 76 years 6 months and 29 days. Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon with rev. Otto Horsley officiating. She is survived by a son, William S. Wells of California, three daughters, Mrs. F. G.
