  • (Bride) Marriage*: circa 1790; Groom=Josiah Wells
  • Death*: 26 January 1860
  • Burial*: 26 January 1860; Littlepage Cemetery, Pushmataha, Choctaw Co., Alabama, USA; The following data was compiled and requested added by contributor Bev Golden.

    The daughter of Robert Anderson.

She married first to Benjamin Littlepage on 20 Dec 1797 in Campbell Co., VA. Her father was named on the marriage record.

Frances and Benjamin moved to Muhlenberg Co., KY by May 1803, when Benjamin entered 200 acres of land.

Benjamin became guardian of two orphans, Samuel and William Caruthers in April 1808 in Muhlenberg Co., KY, and his and Frances' son Robert was born there that year on 6 Oct. The last mention of Benjamin in Muhlenberg Co., KY was a reference to his land on a survey in Apr 1810, but he wasn't listed on the census that year.

The next definite mention of Frances was when she was appointed administrator of her second husband Josiah Well's estate on 14 Sep 1821 in Clarke Co., Alabama. Josiah Wells' parents were early settlers of Muhlenberg Co., KY and neighbors there of the Littlepages, but he himself had settled in Sumner Co., TN (about eighty miles away) before moving sometime between 1807-1813 to Clarke Co., AL.

1830 - Frances was listed as a head-of-house in Clarke Co., AL:

    1830 Clarke Co., AL census, p. 43

    1 female 40-50 [Frances]
    1 male 20-30, b. 1800-1810 [her son Robert Littlepage]

Robert Littlepage married 4 Nov 1839, Pushmataha, Choctaw Co., AL to Mary Graham.

1840 – Frances was not listed in Clarke Co., AL as a head-of-household. She was likely living with her son Robert in Sumter Co., AL.

1850 - Frances was living in Choctaw Co., AL with her son Robert Littlepage and his family. Robert owned seventy slaves:
