Preface
The dual object of this brief work is to preserve, in tangible form, a record of the lineage of Nathaniel Wells and Mary Dudley, and also to provide an accessible source of genealogical information concerning this branch of the Wells family. The divergent lines of lineal succession tend to become so widely separated that if the genealogy is unrecorded and left to tradition, the knowledge of names and dates and relationship grows vague and confused. The material for this work has been collated from somewhat varied sources at the expenditure of considerable labor, and it is hoped that the results may not be wholly devoid of interest.
