Early American Wells Immigrants

1633 Undated. Copy letter Master Wells in New England to his people at Tarling, Essex, giving an account of his voyage. My wife and children went ill into the ship but were better at sea than on land and I had not one ounce of sea sickness. In the ship there were near 80 passengers, some very aged, and 12 persons able to make well nigh 1000 years, some very young and hanging on the breast of some women big with child and one delivered of a lusty child within 40 hours after she landed and she and the child well. another woman in the ship of 60 years who had consumption of the lungs for 7 years came forth fully cured. And not only safe in our ship but all in the ships that came this Spring out of England laden with passengers, cattle and goods, and not a man or child died by the way nor since that came to shore. I know no other place on the whole globe of the earth where I would rather be than here. At last I rested with Mr. Masell at Charles Town where I now am with my family. (BL? Sloane 922, p.167).
