1828 CENSUS of NSW - WELLS ENTRIES

BACKGROUND

The 1828 Census was the first full census to be taken in New South Wales, and it is the only detailed census to have survived to the present day.

The census forms were issued to each Bench of magistrates in NSW on September 18th, 1828. The data was collected by a clerk (usually accompanied by a local Constable), who called at each residence in the locality. Most forms were completed and returned during November 1828, but forms continued to be returned during the early months of 1829.

This extract, taken from the printed volume re-issued in 1980 by Malcolm Sainty and Keith Johnson, contains the 34 entries relating to the surname WELLS.
